Post #93: How many times will you let your ego knock you down?

Post #93: How many times will you let your ego knock you down?

When I started studying A Course In Miracles concepts I noticed that I began feeling depressed. Here I was studying the most mind-blowing concepts that I had ever come across and they were depressing me. It wasn’t until a year later (yes literally a year) that I realized my own manipulative ego was at the helm once again.

These teachings from A Course In Miracles are some of the best on the planet for helping us SEE THROUGH our own egos. So guess what. Our egos don’t like it. Our egos don’t like to hear that we are not better or more special than someone else. The ego feeds itself on constant comparison and measurement. So anytime you begin a self-study practice like yoga and ACIM, the ego begins to rear its ugly head.

When this happens, you must continue to move forward. You will doubt yourself again and again, but it will get better. Over time, the practice of yoga will automatically begin to lift you up out of the ego, and you will be able to start seeing how manipulative it really is.

When I found myself depressed after learning course concepts, I finally realized that it was my own ego telling me that if I couldn’t be “special” from an ego stand point then life felt meaningless. What’s the point if I”m not supposed to compete and be “better” than others at this and that. This is the ego wanting to be “special”, more special than anyone else. And it might be the toughest pill to swallow as we navigate putting yoga and ACIM principles into practice.

The problem with enjoying the “wins” of the ego is that you also must endure the many “losses” of the ego. And that gets real old real quick. Once you are tired of getting knocked down again and again by your own ego then you are ready to dive full force into these transformational practices that will heal you like nothing else.

It took a lot of practice and coming back to the drawing board before I began to see through that aspect of my ego. But once I did it felt like a huge shadow lifted off of my soul. I now knew that of course I was special. And so was everyone else. And when you hear that from a place of love it makes you happy that we all share that together as children of God.

If you are tired of getting knocked down again and again by your own ego, then keep up with this combined practice of yoga and ACIM.
It won’t let you down.

Take some time for this ego-release guided meditation. Feel the weight lift off of your shoulders as you learn to let go of your ego, even if it’s just for a moment.

Remember, you are a force for good in the world. The more consistent you get with these practices the more your life will become guided, sacred, and filled with meaning. You cannot help but then extend deep peace, joy, and contentment to your loved ones, friends, and everyone you meet. The world could use more of this, so let’s get you in the best space to make it happen.
