2-Minute Practice: Setting an Intention for Synchronicities

A few weeks ago we were on a family trip and my daughter and I got into a pretty deep conversation about the existence of God. She had questions and doubts which I think is very normal and very healthy for a teenager to have. I told her that if she paid attention, she would have many experiences in life with other people and on her own which would reveal the existence of God, or a higher power. I told her if she started asking for little signs that she would get them. They probably wouldn’t be what she might expect, but they would be unmistakable.

As we were having this discussion we walked into one of the rock shops in this little town in Springdale, Utah and started browsing. I found a dish with little rocks with words written on them. I love these rocks and have collected some over the years. Mine say, “Freedom”, “Dream”, ” Believe”, etc. I decided to find one that might remind her of our conversation and help instill a seed of faith. As I rummaged through the dish I didn’t find any that seemed to directly relate to our conversation. So I gave up “trying” and decided to just close my eyes and pick one for her. I knew deep inside that it would be meant for her and for this conversation just like we had just talked about, but I still found myself doubting that it would really work.

When I picked a rock and read the word I immediately knew that God was here and there is simply no denying it.

The problem is, we all get so busy and so stressed that we focus on getting everything done and we forget to check-in with ourselves. We forget to look up every now and then and make sure we are heading in the direction that we want to be headed in. We forget that we have a choice in the matter as to which direction we want to go. We don’t notice signs that are telling us that we got off track and need to make a hard turn. We forget that we can ask for signs so that we can remember our connection and let it guide us through life.

Anytime I have ever asked for synchronicities, these meaningful coincidences, I have always received them. All we have to do is ask for them then slow down and look up to notice them for what they are.

The rock that I picked for her had the word “Pray” written on it. Now I promise that I had rummaged through every single rock and never saw the word “Pray”. When I read it I thought to myself, “here it is”. I savored the moment and couldn’t wait to tell her when we left.

Interestingly enough, she was having her own synchronistic moments in talking with the lady who worked in the rock shop about various rocks and what they were made of and what they meant. It was one of those beautiful moments in which I got to witness my daughter having her own moment of experiencing and building her own faith, and at the same time experiencing one of my own that was intricately wrapped up in hers.

Today I’m sharing a practice that is simply setting an intention to receive synchronicities throughout your day. Set this intention anytime you need a reminder that God is here, your higher self is fully engaged in guiding you on your journey, and all you have to do is ask, look up from what all your’e doing, and pay attention.

Give yourself 2 minutes to set this intention then be amazed at what your day will bring.

Remember, you are a force for good in the world. The more consistent you get with these practices the more your life will become guided, sacred, and filled with meaning. You cannot help but then extend deep peace, joy, and contentment to your loved ones, friends, and everyone you meet. The world could use more of this, so let’s get you in the best space to make it happen.
