Post #90: Spring Equinox Cultivation Journaling Exercise

Spring Equinox Cultivation Journaling Exercise

The vernal equinox marks the turning point when daylight begins to win out over darkness. On March 20, 2023 day and night are of equal length and the days will get longer and longer until summer solstice, June 21st.

Spring is a time of re-birth and renewal. We are coming out of Winter and feel gratitude for the warmth of the sunlight and the lushness of the foliage. Some spring days I even delight in the brief touch of humidity that will soon reach 100% by summer where I live.

Winter is a time to slow down and rest, stay warm and cozy by a fire re-building our energy. Spring is the time to start using that energy to manifest new things we want to bring into our lives. The following exercise is to help you to use this time of year and the energy that comes with it to cultivate something in your life that is ready to be cultivated. It doesn’t have to be major, just something that will bring joy and a sense of fulfillment to you and maybe to others as well.

Questions to journal about:

Write down 3-5 things you would like to cultivate in your life. It can be something that you already have that you want to build upon or it can be something brand new that you want to bring into your life.

Now look at your list and pick one that you’d really like to see happen over this next year.

Ask yourself:

If someone told you tomorrow that you only had a few days left to live, what would you regret not trying to cultivate in your life?

What actions do you need to take to start manifesting this in your life? (Don’t stress if nothing comes automatically. There is a guided meditation that you will practice to help you with this.)

Now, listen up. This is important. We cannot “create” or “cultivate” in a state of stress. Stress blocks our ability to tune into our higher self and get guidance from above. We can use our ego to try to force things to happen but they usually don’t work out quite as well and bring more stress into the process. I’m not saying that you won’t experience stress at all but if you are tuning into your higher self and allowing your higher self to guide you in the right direction then that type of stress is usually coupled with enjoyment of what you are guided to do. It may not always be easy but it feels worth it because it is moving you toward a desired outcome that “feels” right.

The way to get into a space that allows you to tune into your higher guidance is to make sure you “feel” good. If you are feeling sad, lonely, afraid, stressed, mad, guilty, depressed, or anxious then you will block your higher guidance. It’s important to notice when you move into these stress states so that you can take a deep breath and, as Taylor Swift says, “shake it off”.

Over the next few weeks I want you to really tune in and make sure that you are “feeling” good.

List about 5 things that you love to do that make you feel good. It can be going to see a movie, reading a good book, taking a bubble bath, getting a massage, taking a yoga class, practicing a guided meditation, playing with your child, etc.

Now over the next few weeks promise yourself that when you notice that you don’t “feel” good, then choose something from your list to do to shift you back into “feeling” good.

Now, set some time aside today for my 7-minute guided meditation “Tune Into Your Creativity & Guidance” that will help you begin moving toward your cultivation goal this Spring. Remember, if we continue to tune into our higher selves our original plans may shift and change and look a little different than the original plan. So be open to the fact that what you end up cultivating may not be exactly what you planned from the beginning and that’s okay. As my husband always reminds me, try to “flow like water” as you intend for this spring to be about cultivating something important in your life; something that will prevent you from having any regrets later. It doesn’t have to be anything major, just something that makes you “feel” good and “feel” complete.

One final note. If nothing is coming to you that you want to cultivate then that is fine too. Or if you know what you want to cultivate but you are not getting clear guidance on how to begin, that is okay. Sometimes, the timing is not quite right. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t any plans for us. It only means that there are a few more things that need to happen prior to us moving in that direction. Your higher self will guide you perfectly. Your only job at this point is to tune in and trust in the guidance.

Have fun with this! Namaste.
