Post #80: Read this before your Thanksgiving gathering!

Post #80: Read this before your Thanksgiving gathering!

Let me ask you an important question before you get in your car and head out to your family or friends house for Thanksgiving:

Would you rather be right, or would you rather be peaceful?

This question immediately tells us if we’re acting from our ego-self or our soul-self. If you answered that question and would rather be right then you’ll want to listen to the guided meditation I’ve included today. If you’d rather be peaceful then you are on your way to a pleasant holiday gathering.

Most of us have family or friends that push our buttons or irk us in some way. When we keep a higher perspective, then we know that whatever they may be throwing out at us probably comes from insecurity and fear on their part. If we can keep a kind and understanding perspective then our own ego will not be provoked and lead into an argument or heated discussion.

Now let me challenge you even further. When we “see” something in someone else, be it anger or insecurity, etc. then we are giving ourselves a beautiful opportunity to “see” past that to the innocent, wise, loving soul that that person truly is. Here’s the great part. If we can start “seeing” that rather than get stuck on all the negative traits and characteristics of their ego-self, then that person can actually “sense” that on some level. That does more for that person AND YOU than you can ever imagine. The more you do this for others, the more you do this for yourself and the less and less these tiring situations will come up for you.

Would you rather leave others feeling guilty, ashamed, isolated, sad, and angry or would you like to leave others feeling loved, accepted, encouraged, and happy?

Remember, when you extend this to others, you extend it to yourself. This is so important to realize!!

So I challenge you!! Let’s make this the most peaceful, wonderful Thanksgiving gathering you have ever had. Let’s make it about the very thing it is supposed to be about: gratitude. Gratitude for our families and the differences and challenges that they bring to the table. Gratitude for the opportunity to challenge ourselves to “see” past their ego-crap to the loving, kind, eternal souls that they truly are. This is the miracle that ACIM talks about and you won’t know what all that means or “feels” like until you give it a try. But I’ll give you a hint: It’s the best feeling in the world.

I’m including my 3 minute guided meditation to connect with Holy Spirit and get you in your best state of mind to then go out and extend peace, love and joy to your family and friends.

Remember, you are a force for good in the world. The more consistent you get with these practices the more your life will become guided, sacred, and filled with meaning. You cannot help but then extend deep peace, joy, and contentment to your loved ones, friends, and everyone you meet. The world could use more of this, so let’s get you in the best space to make it happen.
