Post 33: Take the first step in spiritual awakening.

Take That First Step“Take the first step in faith, you don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Martin Luther King, Jr. (www.brainyquote.com 2001)

Take a moment to contemplate what this means to you.

For me, this means that when we are called to do something in life, we take that first step with complete faith and trust in that intuition, that inner guidance that is urging us forward. Oprah calls them the “whispers” in life that are constantly calling to us and guiding us. When we learn to fully trust in them, we no longer need to see the full spectrum of how things are going to unfold. We trust that that first step that we are guided to take will lead to another guided step, and then another, and then another…

Remember these steps to spiritual awakening don’t necessarily mean steps of “doing”. They may be steps toward a new way of looking at things, new beliefs, steps toward simply “being” in peace and contentment in your life.

Realize that it has never been about a destination anyway, but the ability to have faith and full trust in the now, enjoying THIS moment fully, this step fully, since in actuality it is the only one that really matters.

If you ever feel cut off from your guidance, go back to the practice of yoga. It shifts you out of the ego and tunes you back into your higher guidance which is here for you in every moment.

A moment of gratitude for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his ability to tune into his higher guidance which lead to his first step, which lead to many other huge strides in the forward movement of us being able to see each other more and more as equal and One rather than unequal, different, and separate.
