Post #74: God is in the details: 28 minute yoga vignette- expansion in triangle pose.

Post #74: God is in the details: 28 minute yoga vignette- expansion in triangle pose.

Do you remember that expression “God is in the details”? This also relates to how much we can sink into the details of the yoga poses. The more we tune into the details of the poses, the more we shift our mind out of “monkey mind” and draw our awareness totally and completely into the details of the body postures. When we do this, we shift our mind out of its “stress state” and the body begins to let go of the stress it’s been holding onto. The more we can “let go” mentally and focus on something else, the more we drop into an expanded state of consciousness. This is where we “feel” our connection again with God and with each other. We connect with the deeper, truer aspect of our selves that is eternal and wise. When we do this, we come out of our yoga practice remembering the bigger picture: we are amazing eternal spiritual beings! Remember?!

This sounds easy but is still difficult to do. Our “monkey minds” pull out every trick in the book to draw us out of our focus. The problem is, if we stay in monkey mind and never give ourselves a break either through a hobby or through a yoga or meditation practice, then we get “stuck” in this repetitive thought recording and all the subsequent emotional responses that go with it. This is exhausting. You need a break from it and you deserve a break from it. The cool thing is, if you give your all to your practice, then when you are done your mind is clear as a bell. Answers to questions that you have been asking yourself come to you easily. You are in communion with your higher self, your higher guidance that is constantly trying to guide you in the most perfect way.

If you are a moderate to advanced practitioner, then I challenge you to practice this yoga vignette on triangle pose. See how fully you can tune into the details of the pose. If you succeed, then you will find your side waist, hamstrings, lower back, and shoulders opening and releasing more easily than you could have ever thought. As you link your inhale and exhale to the details of the pose, the body will begin to open up quickly and easily. You will find yourself shifting out of monkey mind and giving the mind a “rest”. And most importantly you will feel that sense of connection with God and with others, beyond the judgments and opinions that all seem to get in the way these days.

So take the next 30 minutes and challenge yourself to tune in fully to the details of the pose and experience all that yoga has to offer.

Remember, you are a force for good in the world. The more consistent you get with these practices the more your life will become guided, sacred, and filled with meaning. You cannot help but then extend deep peace, joy, and contentment to your loved ones, friends, and everyone you meet. The world could use more of this, so let’s get you in the best space to make it happen.
